What Will I Learn in High Desert Medical College’s Clinical Medical Assisting Program?
At High Desert Medical College, students learn to complete both front and back-office tasks, including:
- Greeting patients and answering telephone calls
- Scheduling appointments
- Verifying patient information and health insurance
- Updating and filing patients’ medical records
- Recording information in medical recordkeeping systems, such as the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system

In High Desert Medical College’s Clinical Medical Assisting program, students are prepared to excel in their future careers through a combination of engaging coursework and clinical labs. Students gain critical theoretical knowledge in the classroom, supplemented with hands-on training in on-campus labs under the supervision of experienced instructors.
The Clinical Medical Assisting program also includes an externship component, in which students complete an externship placement, empowering them to practice their skills in a real-world environment.
What Will I Get When I Complete High Desert Medical College’s Clinical Medical Assisting Program?
High Desert Medical College’s Clinical Medical Assisting program can be completed in as few as 34 weeks! The morning/afternoon program is 34 weeks when completed at a normal pace, while the evening program is 42 weeks. Graduates of High Desert Medical College’s Clinical Medical Assisting program receive a Certificate of Completion, Medical Assistant diploma as well as CPR and First Aid certification from the Red Cross. Upon completion of the program, graduates will also be prepared to test for nationally-recognized MA certification.
