How Do You Prepare for HDMC’s Vocational Nursing Program?

Before applying to HDMC’s Vocational Nursing program there are five steps you will want to complete:

Step 1: Visit the Campus

Your first step is meeting with Admissions. During your appointment, you’ll learn more about the VN program, discuss the time commitment and expectations, and receive instructions for your entrance exam. To move forward with testing, you’ll need a government-issued photo ID, Social Security card, and proof of a high school diploma or GED.

Step 2: Take the ATI TEAS Exam

Prospective VN students must complete the ATI TEAS exam and earn a minimum score of 55%. Applicants are allowed up to three attempts per year.

HDMC helps students prepare by providing free access to the TEAS Mastery Hub app, which includes videos and practice questions. All HDMC campuses also offer FREE TEAS tutoring, with specific content varying by campus. A TEAS ATI Overview and Q&A is offered every Thursday via Zoom for additional support.

Step 3: Interview

After passing the ATI TEAS exam, Admissions will schedule you an interview with the Director of Nursing. This interview is required for admission consideration into the Vocational Nursing program.

Step 4: Submit Required Documents

After successfully completing the interview, Step 4 is to submit the required health and compliance documentation. Requirements include a physical examination using HDMC’s official form, required immunizations and tests, a background check, and drug screening. All clinical and compliance requirements must be completed and approved before starting the program.

Step 5: Enroll!

Once you have completed the admissions steps, passed the required exam, finished your interview, and submitted the necessary clearances, the last step is to enroll in the program. You’ll complete your enrollment paperwork, confirm your official start date, and prepare for classroom and clinical training.
