A Rewarding and Fulfilling Career

Pharmacy technicians play an important role in the health care industry.  This rewarding and fulfilling career offers job security and pay above the average national salary. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of healthcare occupations is projected to grow 19% from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations, adding about 2.3 million new jobs. Healthcare occupations will add more jobs than any other group of occupations.

Pharmacy technicians often work with licensed pharmacists and are responsible for measuring, mixing, counting, labeling, and recording the correct dosages of prescription medications. They may receive and verify prescriptions or refill requests from patients and doctors’ offices. Other job responsibilities include verifying inventory, processing medical insurance forms, and operating cash registers to accept payments from customers.

One of the reasons many people choose a career as a pharmacy technician is their desire to help people.  As more people are living to older ages, the need for medication to stay healthy continues to increase.  A career as a pharmacy tech allows you to help people get the medication they need.  Knowing that you’re making a difference in people’s lives can be very rewarding.
