What Will I Learn in HDMC’s Veterinary Assistant Program?
Under the supervision of dedicated, experienced instructors, students in HDMC’s Veterinary Assistant program learn how to provide critical assistance and support to scientists, veterinarians, and veterinary technologists and technicians with their daily tasks. At HDMC, students learn:
- Exam room preparation
- Maintaining and sterilizing surgical instruments
- Intaking animals for exams
- Feeding, bathing, and exercising animals
- Restraining animals during procedures
- Caring for and monitoring animals after surgery or treatment
- Giving medications
- Administering immunizations.
Does HDMC’s Veterinary Assistant Program Provide Hands-On Instruction?
In HDMC’s Veterinary Assistant program students are prepared to excel in their future careers through a combination of engaging coursework and clinical labs. Students gain critical theoretical knowledge in the classroom, supplemented with hands-on training in on-campus labs under the supervision of experienced instructors.
The Veterinary Assistant program also includes an externship component, in which students complete an externship placement, empowering them to practice their skills in a real-world environment.
What Will I Get When I Complete HDMC’s Veterinary Assistant Program?
HDMC’s Veterinary Assistant program can be completed in as few as 35 weeks! Graduates of HDMC’s Veterinary Assistant program receive their Certificate of Completion, Veterinary Assistant Diploma, and are prepared to immediately enter into entry-level positions in the field.
Does HDMC offer Financial Aid to Veterinary Assistant Students?
Yes, HDMC offers Financial Aid to those who qualify! HDMC’s Financial Aid Office assists students in applying for any financial aid programs for which they are eligible, and can provide assistance with completing and submitting a Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Can HDMC Help Me Find a Job After I Complete the Veterinary Assistant Program?
HDMC’s Career Services department offers placement assistance! The Career Services department provides every student with a wide range of career support services, including resume writing assistance, job searching and networking, interviewing skills, and comprehensive job placement assistance.
