Hungry? Let’s Change That.

Everyone deserves access to healthy, affordable meals. At our Bakersfield campus, we’ve gathered local food resources to support students and their families.

From food pantries to community programs, you’ll find options here to make life a little easier while you focus on your education. If you need extra guidance or personalized support, our Student Services team is here to help.

Food Bank Resources

The Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) Food Bank is a Partner Distribution Organization within the Feeding America network. The CAPK Food Bank provides food assistance to low-income people through its network of 155 distribution sites. These sites are located throughout the county. The Pantry Program distributes non-government food at 113 sites. This food is donated through food drives, by local businesses, and the community.

WIC

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and nutritious foods to supplement diets. WIC is a federally funded USDA nutrition program that is administered by the California Department of Public Health. Our WIC team includes registered dietitians, degreed nutritionists, International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC), certified lactation educators, and other trained professionals. WIC services are provided at no cost. There are currently 16 CAPK-WIC sites, 3 facilities are located in San Bernardino County.

Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities Bakersfield is a Community Benefit Organization serving the needs of those in crisis. We are the first responders in helping our neighbors with food, clothing and other basic necessities regardless of age, race or beliefs. Hunger extends far beyond our brick and mortar sites. Families who are experiencing difficult economic times can come to Catholic Charities to ease the burden of caring for their families as we lend a helping hand.
