Vocational Nursing Diploma Program

At High Desert Medical College, our Vocational Nursing Program is designed to prepare students to enter the healthcare industry. Nurses are critical allied health professionals, providing care for people who are sick, injured, convalescent, or disabled under the direction of physicians and registered nurses. This program prepares students with critical theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on skills through a combination of coursework and clinical labs. Students also receive real-world on-the-job experience through an externship.

Students in the Vocational Nursing program learn how to:

  • Provide Basic Nursing Care
  • Administer medications
  • Document Patients’ Signs and Symptoms
  • Perform Therapeutic and Rehabilitative Measures.

Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion in Vocational Nursing.

Vocational Nursing Program Courses Include:

  • Fundamentals of Nursing
  • Medical – Surgical Nursing
  • Medical – Surgical Mental Health
  • Maternal – Child Health Leadership
  • Clinical in Various Facilities

Included with the HDMC Vocational Nursing program tuition is the cost for the NCLEX/PN exam, BVNPT Application for Licensure by Exam, and the VN IV Therapy Certification and Blood Withdrawal class.

High Desert Medical College’s Vocational Nursing program is currently offered in person. Students learn classroom theory while completing hands-on training in on-campus labs. All students also gain valuable experience through an externship.
