Do I need experience to start the Dental Assisting (DA) program?

No, you do not need any prior medical experience for HDMC’s Dental Assisting (DA) program. Students must have a high school diploma or GED and pass an entrance exam to enroll. (Don’t have a high school diploma? No Problem! Click here to learn about HDMC’s ECPP program!)

How long does it take to complete the Dental Assisting (DA) program?

HDMC’s DA program can be completed in as few as 34 weeks! The morning/afternoon program is 34 weeks when completed at a normal pace, while the evening program is 42 weeks. 

When do the next classes for the Dental Assisting (DA) program start?

The DA program at High Desert Medical College is constantly enrolling! New classes start as often as every month. 

Is the Dental Assisting (DA) program online or in-person?

The DA program is offered on a hybrid schedule – students complete hands-on learning in on-campus labs while learning classroom theory online. All students also complete an externship placement as well. 

Does the Dental Assisting (DA) program include an externship?

The DA program includes an 160-hour Externship in which students receive real-world dental assisting experience in a hands-on setting.
