DENTAL ASSISTING DIPLOMA PROGRAM

At High Desert Medical College, our Dental Assisting program is designed to prepare students to enter a dental career in the healthcare industry. Dental assistants work closely with dentists to provide quality patient care, performing important administrative and clinical tasks to support dental offices. This 34-week program provides students with intensive training emphasizing dental practice office management, dental assistant procedures, chair side assisting, dental anatomy, radiography and Imaging. Students in the Dental Assistant program learn from professional instructors, and receive real-world on-the-job experience through an Externship.

Students in the Dental Assisting program learn how to:

  • Greet patients
  • Assist the dentist or hygienist during exams and treatments
  • Administer X-Rays
  • Take dental impressions
  • Fabricate molds or crowns

    Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and X-ray Certification upon completion of the program.

    The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics ranks Dental Assistants among the fastest growing occupations over the 2021-2031 decade. Employment is projected to grow 8% – faster than the average job ranking. Dental Assistants hold positions in roles including Office Manager, Patient Treatment Coordinator, Dental Biller, Dental Sales Representative, and Dental Lab Technician.
