How It Works
Through Excel High School, you have two pathways to earn your high school diploma.
Earn Your High School Diploma ONLY — 100% Free, Online
High Desert Medical College partners with Excel High School to offer a free online high school diploma completion program.
You do not need to be enrolled in a High Desert Medical College program to participate. Participants can also use their local HDMC campus computer lab during normal business hours while completing their diploma.
Earn Your High School Diploma While Training For Your Career
Through our partnership with Excel High School, eligible students can earn their high school diploma while completing healthcare career training at HDMC.
Students who qualify through Ability to Benefit (ATB) may enroll in an Eligible Career Pathway Program (ECPP) and work toward both at the same time.

Excel High School is an accredited online high school that provides flexible coursework for students completing their high school diploma.
Is Dual Enrollment Right For You?

Questions?
We’ve got answers. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Just ask!
Yes. High Desert Medical College offers options for students who do not have a high school diploma or GED. Eligible students may be able to enroll in a participating HDMC career training program through the Eligible Career Pathway Program (ECPP) while working toward their high school diploma.
HDMC offers two pathways for students who need to complete their high school diploma. Students can earn a diploma online through Ancora High School without enrolling in an HDMC career training program, or eligible students can pursue their diploma while concurrently enrolled in an eligible HDMC program through the ECPP pathway with Excel High School.
An Eligible Career Pathway Program (ECPP) allows qualifying students without a high school diploma or GED to work toward their high school diploma while simultaneously completing an eligible career training program at High Desert Medical College. HDMC currently partners with Excel High School to provide the high school education component of this pathway. Eligible programs include: Clinical Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, Medical Billing & Coding, and Veterinary Assistant.
If your goal is to focus on earning your high school diploma first, the High School diploma only option through Excel High School may be a good fit. If you want to begin eligible healthcare career training while working toward your diploma, the ECPP pathway may be an option if you qualify. An HDMC Admissions Representative can help you compare the two options and determine which path fits your goals and eligibility.
