Ruben Banuelos Jr., Medical Billing and Coding program, HDMC Temecula
Ruben enrolled in the Medical Billing and Coding program at HDMC Temecula almost by accident. According to Ruben, he was taking his mother to a doctor’s appointment one day, when he saw the signs for High Desert Medical College. Ruben thought his mother might be interested in enrolling, so they went in to speak with the Admissions staff. By the end of their conversation, Ruben had decided to enroll himself! Ruben says, “At first I wasn’t looking to join at all, but thinking about it I said why not, and here I am close to the end of the classes.” Ruben knows he made the right decision, because his goal is to meet new people, and land a better job. 
Ruben was nominated for the Student Spotlight by his Temecula instructor Patricia Rico for the dedication and work ethic he has demonstrated in the program. Rico said, “He has never missed a day, perfect attendance. Ruben is always engaging with myself and his classmates during lecture will ask questions for further clarity. His work is turned in and he ensures to get his points for all assignments. Ruben demonstrates drive and that will get him far in his chosen career.”
Ruben is a student in HDMC’s Medical Billing and Coding program. In the Medical Billing and Coding program, students learn to perform critical tasks in support of doctors and medical practices. HDMC students learn medical terminology, medical billing software, comprehensive medical coding and billing procedures, how to prepare and file insurance claims, and how to analyze benefits. HDMC’s Medical Billing and Coding program can be completed in as few as 35 weeks, and graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, Medical Billing and Coding diploma, and CPR and First Aid Certification from the American Red Cross.
Upon completion of their program, HDMC graduates enter the job market with confidence, thanks to the support of HDMC’s Career Services department. High Desert Medical College is committed to assisting our program graduates in the pursuit of stable, rewarding employment, and the Career Services department provides every student with a wide range of career support services, including resume writing assistance, job searching and networking, interviewing skills, and comprehensive job placement assistance.
